Capsule Geology

The Fab 45 occurrence is located about 5 kilometres south of Troitsa Lake approximately 105 kilometres south-southwest of the community of Houston.

At the showing, a northeasterly trending quartz diorite of the Late Cretaceous Bulkley Plutonic Suite intrudes and has hornfelsed Lower Jurassic Telkwa Formation (Hazelton Group) andesitic fragmental rocks. Quartz veinlets with minor amounts of pyrite and chalcopyrite are associated with small zones of biotite-orthoclase alteration in the quartz diorite. Disseminated chalcopyrite and pyrite also occur in a feldspar biotite porphyry which intrudes the quartz diorite.

Trenching in this zone has exposed mineralized quartz veins (to 10 centimetres) whose assay values range to 3.2 per cent lead and 15.21 per cent zinc; one soil sample taken 150 metres southeast of the trenches in the quartz diorite dike yielded 56 parts per billion gold (Assessment Report 17228). In 2006, a sample taken by Callinan Mines assayed 0.12 gram per tonne gold, 1181 grams per tonne silver, 0.305 per cent copper, 0.4 per cent zinc, 9.33 per cent lead and 0.403 per cent molybdenum across a 4 centimetre wide massive sulphide band located within a 25 centimetre wide shear zone (Assessment Report 29286). A drillhole put down at the Hornfels zone (as located in Assessment Reports 17228 and 29286) assayed 0.24 gram per tonne gold and 1.18 per cent copper across 3 metres (Assessment Report 29286).

Much of the work done by Callinan Mines (Callinex) covers ground over or near the locations of all the following Fab showings: Fab (093E 041), Fab 49 (093E 042), Fab 44 (093E 043), Fab 45 (093E 044), Samuel (093E 104). The Callinex assessment reports provide maps of work done and raw data but do not summarize mineralization or provide information based on discrete zones or showings. The 2102 ZTEM airborne survey covered all the showings of the original Fab group and those of the Troitsa property as well, which include: Troitsa (Lake) (093E 003), Troitsa (Main) (093E 005) Troitsa (Cirque) (093E 009), and Troitsa East (093E 129).

Refer to Fab (093E 041) for related geology and property work history details.
